‘Ringneck”, a late season South Dakota pheasant hunt is the latest self-filmed, short film from the Territory series. Late season and cold temperatures result in a great hunt for mature roosters.

For our first episode of our new series “Focus Outdoors” we set out in our homeland of Aberdeen, SD, the pheasant capitol of the world, for a late season hunt.

South Dakota’s inaugural one day pheasant hunting season took place in Spink County at Hagman’s Grove on October 30, 1919.

We had a great opening day considering the wet conditions. Thanks to Mike and his son, Richard for making the trip all the way from Jamaica to the best area to hunt pheasant in the world!

Considering the wet conditions for the opener of the 2019 pheasant season here in South Dakota, we were able to get 90 out of our 99 limit with an 11 man group! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience right before our local Pheasantennial Celebration.
