Mixed Bag Upland Hunts

New for this Season

In our quest to continually satisfy our guests, we have acquired extensive leases with thousands of acres of prime prairie range land in West River South Dakota. Giving you the opportunity to chase Roosters amongst the hills, bluffs and buttes. And the very welcome bonus of strong populations of Sharp-Tailed Grouse, Greater Prairie Chickens, Mourning Doves, and the always exciting prospects of Hungarian Partridge. Want a Waterfowl Wild Card?  There are stock dams, crop stubble and newly planted winter wheat that pull in migrating ducks and geese.  We also have resident waterfowl on all the properties as well.  Non-Residents do need to apply for a waterfowl permithttps://gfp.sd.gov/hunt-fish-license/   You will want to select the High Plains option.  Please note that application needs to be made before the July 8th deadline.

A Five Bird Bonanza

These areas offer the ultimate upland extravaganza with the distinct possibility of bagging a limit of all five species. You can jump start your fall bird hunting as the season for the Sharpies, Chickens, Huns, and Doves opens on September 21st. Thus, giving you a month’s worth of shooting prior to Pheasant Season, which opens on October 19th.

You are allowed 3 birds per day for Prairie Grouse (Chickens and Sharpies), 5 Huns, 3 Rooster Pheasants and 15 Doves. With some well controlled dog work, sufficient effort, good shooting, and a little luck mixed in, you could potentially harvest 26 birds a day per hunter. A five-bird bonanza! A quite notable accomplishment that few upland enthusiasts have had the opportunity to achieve. With the extensive variety available, the most cost-effective trip any upland hunter could hope for.
